Sorry but there's no need for pirates to be dishonest, you have them confused with some notion of 'evil', I'd like to believe there's still some actual pirates out there in it for the business aspect of it all and not merely for being evil billboardhumping massmurderers.
Sure verbal deception can be used to their advantage but it speaks of a weakness as they have to use it 'cause they can't beat you straight up.

Interesting how Vegeta chose to join one of the richest alliances out there too. Just wait for a defensive situation where Xetic stand to lose billions in ships defending a POS and see Vegeta, after taking payment from the other side, unanchor and disable the POS raping all those seeking refuge within its protective area.
After all it's the smart thing to do when losing, selling someone else down the river.
